Chancellor Recognizes
Bolz Center Partnership
The Bolz
Center for Arts Administration was one of 12 UW-Madison programs
recognized by Chancellor John Wiley in June 2002 for their
innovative approaches to education and community service.
During
the "Sixth Annual University and Community Partnerships"
reception on June 12, the Chancellor highlighted the important
role of university-community partnerships in the advancement
of education, and the engagement of community issues. The
Bolz Center was honored for the on-going student work with
the Madison Civic Center on its "Kids in the Crossroads"
and "On Stage!" programs, two series that introduce
more than 15,000 children each year to local and regional
artists. Bolz Center students have provided leadership and
project support to these and other Civic Center programs for
more than 15 years.
"The 12
programs being honored exemplify the Wisconsin Idea," said
LaMarr Billups, special assistant to the chancellor for community
relations. "These programs are shining examples of this institution's
ability to enrich the lives of people living in the Madison
community and, for that matter, the entire state of Wisconsin."
