
In 2003, Steven Tepper and Stephanie Hinton published the findings of a two-year study of meetings and convenings in arts and culture. Entitled "Meetings that Matter," the project sought to assess how public meetings in the arts discovered, formulated, and advanced common issues facing the field. In short, the project found that:
Overall, we find that meetings are not currently effective tools for advancing policy in the cultural sector, with some notable exceptions.
