The Bolz Center for Arts Administration, in collaboration with National Arts Strategies and Cultural Initiatives Silicon Valley, has released version 1.0 of the Cultural Dynamics Map, a visualization of the arts and culture ecosystem in the United States. The map and the web site supporting the Cultural Dynamics Working Group are both available on-line as of March 2005.

The map and the working group spring from a meeting of minds in Madison, Wisconsin, in October 2003, which first explored the discipline of systems thinking as a resource for arts policy, arts research, and arts management.

The release of version 1.0 of the Cultural Dynamics Map—developed by a leadership team of Bolz Center Director Andrew Taylor, Cultural Initiatives Silicon Valley Executive Director John Kreidler, National Arts Strategies President & CEO Russell Willis Taylor, systems consultant Steven Peterson, and arts consultant Adrian Ellis—marks the first stage of a more public discussion of systems thinking and systems mapping as they apply to the arts.
