Bolz News:
Bolz Center Joins National Leadership Forum

Getty CenterThe challenge of managing and fostering creative process bridges most industries, but is a particular concern of the creative industries -- from for-profit entertainment companies in film, music, publishing, and broadcasting, to the nonprofit efforts of symphonies, museums, theaters, dance, and other cultural organizations. A recent invitation-only leadership roundtable at The Getty Center in Los Angeles gathered to explore this challenge, and Bolz Center Director Andrew Taylor was among those at the table.

The roundtable drew 22 top-level executives from the arts and entertainment industries -- nonprofit and for-profit -- to explore their common problems and define their different approaches. Participants included the chairman of International Creative Management (one of the world's largest talent and literary agencies), senior vice president and executive producer of Disney's Imagineering division, executive vice president of business affairs for Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, as well as top executives from major nonprofit cultural institutions such as the Smithsonian, the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, the Getty Center, and others. Also participating were former National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Bill Ivey and Harvard economist Richard Caves.

The Getty event is just one example of the national efforts of the Bolz Center for Arts Administration to redefine arts and cultural management, and to reframe leadership training in the field. Other similar projects seek to reinforce our international reputation, while informing the education and network of current Bolz Center students.
