As President and CEO of the
Capital Children's Museum in Washington, DC, Kathy Southern is busy working with the U.S. Congress, board members, foundations, partners, and friends to establish her organization as the Nation's Children's Museum. The rest of the time, she's crafting a vision and direction to fulfill the promise of that designation.
Southern is no stranger to galvanizing communities to create something extraordinary and new. As President and CEO of Port Discovery, she helped to conceive and construct a dynamic exploratorium for kids and families in Baltimore's waterfront. She also continues her contribution to the museum field as a board member of the American Association of Museums, and Vice President of the Association of Children's Museums.
In 2003, Kathy was honored by the School of Business as its distinguished alumna.
