Longtime Executive Director of Ballet Hispanico Verdery Roosevelt recently announced her departure from that role, making room for a new generation of leadership to partner with new artistic director Eduardo Vilaro. Verdery had been a transformative leader for the organization, alongside founding artistic director Tina Ramirez, beginning her work shortly after she graduated from the Bolz Center program.
Said Ballet Hispanico's board chair, Jody Gottfried Arnhold: ''Verdery's tenure with Ballet Hispanico has been remarkable. Her leadership, dedication, perseverance and vision were critical to the growth and success of the organization over the past three decades.''
Also glowing in praise for Verdery was Michael Kaiser, President of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In his blog for Huffington Post, he wrote:
''...watching her work was an object lesson in good arts management: she taught me more about staying true to one's artists while doing what was best for the organization than anyone.''
Our congratulations to Verdery on her three decades of extraordinary service to Ballet Hispanico. We all look forward to what's next.
