Alumni News:
Marsh Takes Charge at the Music Center

Following a five-month national search, the Board of Directors of the Music Center of South Central Michigan has announced the hiring of Elinor M. Marsh as Executive Director. Marsh brings to the non-profit a wealth of experience in fund development and arts education programming.

Said board president Dave Disler: ''The search committee was impressed with Elinor’s ability to engage others in her passion for music. She is energetic, very smart, and has received stellar recommendations from the top-flight organizations for which she’s worked.''

Based in Battle Creek, Michigan, the Music Center is the umbrella organization for the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra; three adult choirs - the Battle Creek Community Chorus, the Pops Ensemble, and Ars Voce; four children's choirs - the Battle Creek Boychoir and Girls’ Chorus, the Hastings Kids Choir, and the Sojourner Truth Choir; and two lessons programs - IMPACT and the Community Music School, which has branches in Hastings and at the Music Center facility at Kellogg Community College.

Reflecting on her new position, Marsh said, "I am thrilled to have this opportunity to continue the excellent work Marge Weil and the Music Center have accomplished. It is clear that Battle Creek values this organization and generously supports its work with a great deal of time, talent, and resources. It will be my pleasure to serve the communities of South Central Michigan, igniting passion for music, advancing the Center's programs, and reaching new heights."
